Let's Create A New Website Right Now
Building your first website is super simple to do and your website will be ready to go in just a few easy steps. I am creating this practice website to show you exactly how it is done, and how easy it really is to setup.
Let’s get going!
1) What Kind Of Website Are You Going To Build?
Decide if you want to build a free domain, on a domain you already own, or you want to buy a new domain name.
In this example, I am going to create a new website on a free domain.
2) Pick Your Domain Name & Title Of Your Website
Choose the name of your preferred website. If it is not available, keep trying until you find one you like. Make sure you are satisfied with the domain name because this cannot be changed once it is created.
But don’t worry, because you can always create website #2 when ever you are ready.
For our new test site, I am deciding to go with “myfreewebsite” as my domain name because just because it is available. Once this name is created, nobody else will be able to use the same name.
3) Enter A Title For Your Site
Then enter a title for your website. This can be any name you want and can always be changed later on. I am just going to use the same name of my website for the title.
4) Choose Your Theme
And finally, it’s time to pick your theme. Right now there are over 4,000 different themes to choose from, but only 12 are available for a new WA starter member.
Again, the theme doesn’t have to be permanent, and can be changed later on down the road.
Don’t sweat it.

Cons
- Uses A Sub-Domain: While the siterubix extension can still rank in the search engines, it would be more beneficial and it always looks more professional and trustworthy if you have a .com, or .net at the end of your domain name.
- Do Not Own The Domain Name: Naturally if you buy your own domain thru Wealthy Affiliate or any other company, you will now own that name and nobody can ever use the same name, as long as you keep paying for it every year.
- No Email Account: This is probably not that big of a deal for most, but your free website does not come with a custom email account. Sometimes it might come in handy if you had an email with your website name, something like "yourname@yourwebsite.com"
- Limited Amount Of Plugins & Themes: Even though you are limited with the amount of plugins and themes you can install on your site, you still can select from twelve different themes and all the basic plugins that you need to get started are available.

Most certainly these days I think everyone needs a website in addition to whatever social platforms they may use, as having that site that you “own” means you cannot be taken down from the internet if they change the rules and delete your social account for some reason.
